English Teaching professional is a practical magazine and online resource for English language teachers.

Our mission: to support and inspire English language teachers everywhere.

Our values

We believe in sharing experience. English Teaching professional is written for teachers by teachers, which means that the practical tips, ideas, and ready-to-go activities we bring you are all tried and tested.

We believe that a 21st century ELT magazine should reflect the diversity of the global ELT community. Our readers live in more than 120 countries around the world. We’re committed to publishing content from an authorship that reflects the breadth of our readers’ experiences.

We believe in making teachers’ day-to-day lives simpler. We provide printable classroom resources with every issue of our magazine, and our MyCPD tool simplifies continuing professional development with online tracking and a one-click export function.

We believe in accessibility. ETp is a teachers’ magazine, not an academic journal, so we ask our contributors to avoid jargon and weighty prose. Reader-friendly is our watchword. We love receiving submissions from first-time authors, too.

Our team

Helena Gomm, Editor

“I am proud to have been the editor of English Teaching professional  for over 15 years and for me, and many other English language teachers around the world, it is much more than just a magazine. It is a forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences and I believe that this exchange is the key to professional development.”

Helena started her English language teaching career in Japan where she worked for six years, teaching first in a high school and then in a junior college in Nagasaki. Helena has also taught English in the UK.

She worked as an editor and publisher for Longman for several years and she has written teaching materials for Longman, Macmillan, Langenscheidt and Orient Blackswan.

Helena has been the editor of English Teaching professional  since 2001.
